About Ramadan 2027
Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin on or around 27 January 2027, subject to moon sighting. It will be the second consecutive winter Ramadan for Northern Hemisphere Muslims, meaning longer fasts in the north and shorter ones in Southern Hemisphere countries like South Africa and Australia.
What are Sehri and Iftar?
Sehri (Suhoor) is the pre-dawn meal eaten before the Fajr prayer begins. Fasting starts at the time of Fajr, so the last moment to eat is just before the Fajr adhan. The timetable above shows the Fajr time — you must stop eating before this.
Iftar is the breaking of the fast at sunset — at the time of the Maghrib prayer. The Sunnah is to break the fast immediately when Maghrib enters, traditionally with dates and water.
