Historically named because Arab tribes would leave their homes empty during raids in this month.
The most celebrated month — the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was born on the 12th of this month.
Also called Rabi al-Akhir (the last Rabi). A month of reflection following the Prophet's birth month.
Named for the dry, parched season. The fifth month of the Islamic year.
The sixth month — the second of the two Jumada months.

The month before Ramadan. Muslims increase worship, especially on Laylat al-Nisf (15th night).
The holiest month — fasting is obligatory. The Quran was first revealed in Ramadan. Laylat al-Qadr falls within it.
Eid al-Fitr falls on the 1st. Fasting 6 days of Shawwal after Eid equals fasting the entire year.
